If the argument is against clipping, just turn the faders down.Īfter you get the mix down, then I'd start messing with the master (or leave it to your mastering engineer). That way nothing clips, as it's all well below 0db.
I mean, just turn your interface volume up, and mix a good amount below 0db, and get everything fitting together nicely.
Maybe eric can chime in here, but personally I don't see the point of mixing with anything on the master.
